The “Doc” Story
The “Doc” is the nickname for the B-29 Superfortress that was built in Wichita, Kansas. It is one of 1,644 four-engined propeller-driven heavy bomber was used by the United States during World War II and the Korean War. The “Doc” is one of two surviving B-29 Superfortress planes in existence. In 1987, Doc was found by Tony Mazzolini in the Mojave Desert plane graveyard. In 2000, Doc was moved back to Wichita and restored. You can visit the Doc in its new hangar. More info here.
